Christine Chapel
Christine Chapel is not only a classroom for students at the main campus of Yonsei University, but it is also planned to be used as a multipurpose hall for local people, a theater stage, small concerts, seminars, and other events. The design of the space focused on achieving “balance.” The balance between the chapel and the multipurpose hall was struck, and when each was used, it could perfectly wear the clothes of that space…… Also, it was designed to be a space that reflected the Christian spirit but also reflected the sense of place, a balanced space between nature and people in the space, and the chairs in the hall were designed to be stackable single chairs that could be easily moved depending on the purpose of the space, maximizing the usability of the space. A small hill behind the stage was placed to block the apartment in front of the stage while simultaneously bringing in the living, breathing nature beyond the glass windows as a private space for the chapel, and the stage walls were finished in a white color (empty paper) so that various stage productions could be performed using video and stage lighting during the performance.
