The Art of the Smokehouse: Meat Moot Istanbul by Algedra

Situated within a prominent circular pavilion in Istanbul, Meat Moot stands as a landmark of culinary theater. For this flagship location, Algedra executed a full-scale interior design and fit-out that merges a rugged, fire-inspired soul with high-caliber luxury finishes. The result is a space that feels both grounded in tradition and elevated by contemporary craftsmanship.

Exterior and Architectural Presence

The restaurant occupies a striking two-story glass structure characterized by its cylindrical geometry and bronze-toned framing. Algedra utilized the expansive glazing to create a transparent invitation to passersby, while the outdoor perimeter is defined by manicured topiary and architectural umbrellas that extend the dining experience to the cobblestone streets of Istanbul.

Interior Design Style: Refined Industrialism

The interior is defined by a Refined Industrial aesthetic. It moves away from cold, raw metals toward a warmer, more opulent palette of dark woods, polished stone, and brass.

    • Vertical Surfaces and Walls: Feature columns are clad in dark walnut-stained wooden slats, creating a rhythmic texture that breaks up the expansive glass walls. These are contrasted by smooth, matte charcoal-grey structural elements.

    • The Show Kitchen: The heart of the restaurant features a sweeping, curved service counter finished with white fluted paneling and a heavy black marble top. This serves as a stage for the chefs, separated from the guests by a glass partition for an interactive "butcher-to-table" feel.

Materiality and Flooring

    • Flooring: Algedra selected large-format matte porcelain tiles in a soft sand-grey tone. This neutral base provides a clean, expansive foundation that allows the rich colors of the furniture to remain the focus.

    • Stone Accents: Premium Nero Marquina marble is used for communal tables, displaying deep black tones with vivid white veining that mirrors the smoke-and-fire theme of the menu.

Furniture and Bespoke Fit-Out

Every piece of furniture was selected to suggest a sense of permanence and comfort.

    • Seating: Guests are seated in high-back emerald green leather booths with vertical tufting or Chesterfield-style armchairs upholstered in forest green and deep burgundy leathers.

    • Dining Tables: Custom-built tables feature dark, slate-textured surfaces framed by gold-metallic edging, providing a touch of glamor to the rustic dining setting.

Lighting and Decor

The lighting design acts as a visual metaphor for rising embers.

    • Pendant Lighting: A forest of gold-capped glass cylinders is suspended at varying heights throughout the curved hall, creating a warm, golden glow.

    • Biophilic Decor: To balance the stone and wood, Algedra integrated large Bird of Paradise palms in minimalist white ceramic planters and smaller trees strategically placed near the windows to soften the industrial lines.

Through this meticulous fit-out, Algedra has created a venue where the architecture is as much a part of the experience as the cuisine, setting a new standard for hospitality design in Istanbul.
